The challenges that Qatar airways face
from its products and services are
firstly to have the right services such as food supplies for example as a
middle eastern airline their main requirements are to serve Halal food and in
certain countries this may be an issue due to the demand or unavailability of
such dietary requirements. Also another huge challenge of globalisation would
be certain air emission charges which would have to be paid, for example in
Europe the emission rules for airlines are a lot stricter than other continents
for which the airline will have to pay an increased amount of capital. Due to
this airline ticket prices can rise and cause issues with the sales and profits
of the business.
Another major challenge could be to meet the requirement of customers by having the right number of flights operating from each of the countries which will involve agreements with airports, air regulations and many other issues which the airline would have to face as part of globalisation.
The challenge of price would be the different currencies that the airline would have
to deal with, as they operate in more than 100 countries which would mean sales
coming in from all sorts of currencies. So this would mean having to convert
each transaction into the required currency which would be the “Qatari Rial”.
Also as there may be payment restriction in less economically developed
countries where consumers may be restricted to make payments by credit or debit
card using the online payment method. So the airlines will need to face these
challenges and adapt to such situations in which online marketing may not come
into effect and become a challenge.
Place
is also a challenge for Qatar airways, ensuring that they have obtained the
right levels of place on search engines which would mean high levels of cost on
promotion and advertising. In addition to this in certain countries where the
access to internet may not be as easy and convenient as what is available in
the United Kingdom or Europe. Therefore it is a huge challenge for the airlines
to ensure that they get across to their potential customers in each country in
an appropriate way.
The challenges of Promotion that Qatar airways would have is firstly the languages,
culture, trends and most importantly religions as they may have strict rules in
each different country which will require the airline to adapt to these. For
example in a Muslim country they will not be able to promote or advertise the
business with a female or male dressed immodestly as this will cause issues and
various problems. Also promoting in the right language would mean the business
will have to get the right person to translate each and every word accurately
and in the appropriate manner so that it is appealing to each and every country
where it is being advertised.
The challenges raised by the Process of globalisation with internet marketing would be to arrange the right flight, for the correct number of people after being process via the internet. It would also include challenges where certain countries will not have secure payment methods such as PayPal; this could also be another challenge when the airline will have to arrange for different payment methods due to the restrictions of certain countries. Also in certain countries access to the internet can also be restricted or unavailable which is another challenge that the airline will have to face.
To maintain Customer Relationship
Management will be one other key challenge for Qatar airways mainly due to the
reason because they are operating in many hundreds of countries across the
globe. Challenges such as communication barriers, and with certain countries
where their may be limitations for consumers to have an easy access to the
internet. Although it may be easy and simple in countries that are more
economically developed where the access to internet and technology will not be
an issue, in countries that do have the same level of technology, and internet
access it will be a challenge for Qatar airways to have a good level of
relationship with their customers.
From
a recent quote by Eric Baum who is a worker for Bluleadz which is an Inbound
Marketing agency specialising in internet marketing, says “When businesses make
the decision to grow larger via the Internet, we enter a new playing field with
its very own set of challenges. Most if not all businesses fail because they
cannot overcome a combination of the Internet marketing challenges presented by
World Wide Web.”
Also another quote by Nataša Pantović a newspaper writer quotes that “Airlines all around the world understand the importance of the
challenges with internet marketing and they use their social media sites such
as: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, to communicate with their customers and
prospects and to somehow overcome certain challenges www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20111215/technology/Internet-marketing
